    ABSTRACT In today’s increasingly web-enabled digital world, business environment is being transformed into ecosystems of partners in which digital connectivity, real-time data, information sharing, and visibility are enabled. Partners are becoming increasingly dependent, network collaboration is turning into a key success factor, and managerial, organizational and leadership paradigms are radically changing. This study investigates the requirements of leadership under these collaborative, transformational and technology-intensive conditions. Through a comprehensive and systematic literature review, the study offers main leadership requirements, desired leadership practices, and leader profiles to become successful in this context. Therefore, a conceptual framework is developed. The findings reveal that leadership requirements for digital ecosystems (DES’s) are entirely different from traditional leadership understanding, and orchestration stands out as a key concept. This study is valuable for providing a comprehensive literature review and developing a conceptual framework.

    A Generic, Cloud-Based Representation for Supply Chains (SC’s)

    As a very recent IT paradigm, Cloud Computing is gaining momentum and receiving more and more interest in literature. With various characteristics such as offering flexibility, cost reductions, platform independence and on-demand service, cloud approach opens up tremendous opportunities from Supply Chain (SC) perspective. However, extant literature reveals that adoption and assimilation of the technology is not mature in SC domain and cloud-based modelling initiatives are only recent. To fill this gap, this study discusses the opportunities of cloud computing from SC perspective and proposes a generic representation based on cloud philosophy. The proposed representation is conceptual, flexible and customizable, utilizing and highlighting the cloud benefits in a multi-partner setting. Therefore, this article is an answer to the research questions: “what are the opportunities of cloud philosophy for SC domain?” and “how can supply chains be represented generically based on cloud technology in multi-actor environment?”. Contribution of this study lies in comprehensive treatment of cloud computing and supply chain intersection as well as the generic representation.

    A Generic, Multi-Period and Multi-Partner Cost Optimizing Model for Cloud-Based Supply Chain

    Cloud technology in a multi-enterprise, collaborative context is one of the most promising topics at IT-Supply Chain (SC) intersection. Cloud comes with well-proven advantages and cost savings; enabling collaboration and business intelligence. Cloud transition is still on-going with individual enterprise-level transitions. However, collaborative paradigm dictates that entire network well-being is to be considered over enterprise-level concerns. Thus, handling the transition of a single enterprise is not sufficient for strategic network leverage. Planning and managing across multiple enterprises is required, taking into consideration various cost items and budget constraints. In this study, a multi-period multi-partner cost-optimizing model is developed for network-level management of cloud transition for a SC. The model produces an optimal transition plan, indicating timing of the transition for each partner to obtain the maximum cost savings across network over a specified planning horizon. The model proposed is generic, flexible and customizable for different sectors/settings.

    Becoming Smart, Innovative, and Socially Responsible in Supply Chain Collaboration

    Collaboration is one of the key themes defining the competitive advantage of supply chains (SCs). In web-based global business arena witnessing Industry 4.0, collaboration across SC partners has to be smart, innovative and socially responsible to form value-creating networks. After exploring various concepts related with SC collaboration, this chapter proposes a conceptual maturity model for SC collaboration in increasing levels of integrity and collaboration scope. The model is unique in: establishing a standardized conceptual base; providing a systematic, process-oriented holistic view for multi-partner SC maturity; offering precise mapping of SC processes onto stages with full process coverage; extending CPFR model; defining maturity stages for advanced, strategic collaboration types (like collaborative performance and risk management, collaborative systems assurance and development, collaborative innovation); explicitly incorporating smartness, innovation and social responsibility concepts; and treating relatively recent terminology such as “virtual networks” and “coalescence”.

    Digital Transformation Implementation Challenges in Turkish Industrial Enterprises

    A successful digital transformation (DT) requires reengineering company processes in line with the strategy and business model, and using multiple technologies simultaneously and harmoniously. This creates multiple challenges. This study identifies and prioritizes emerging DT challenges in Turkish industrial sectors. After conducting the literature review, this exploratory study uses structured interviews in multiple sectors and conducts case studies. Challenges are discussed under technological, organizational, managerial, and human dimensions and results are compared with the existing literature. In Turkey, 29% of challenges are human-related, 28% are organizational, 24% are technological, and 19% are managerial. Findings support the importance of handling the soft aspects during the implementations, and put forward the variability of the results with respect to company size and sector. The study is valuable in providing a comprehensive Turkish perspective, classification, and prioritization of multi-dimensional challenges.
