dc.description.abstractPhase transformation, damping, and magnetic properties of a Mn75.7Pt24.3 (at.%) alloy were characterized. It was observed that Mn75.7Pt24.3 exhibits a stable phase transformation in the temperature range of 180-200 degrees C with a small temperature hysteresis and maximum transformation strain of similar to 0.5%. The crystal structures and lattice parameters of the transforming phases were determined, where both the high and low temperature phases have a face-centered cubic structure but with different lattice parameters. Finally, it was revealed that the alloy possesses high damping capacity (average Tan Delta of 0.16) during phase transformation. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
