The radiation shielding parameters are expressed by the linear attenuation coefficient (LAC), mean free path (mfp), effective atomic number (Z(eff)), effective electron density (N-eff), and exposure buildup factor (EBF). This is because of hazardous effect of radiation on human cell. In this study, the parameters for shielding materials for gamma rays have been calculated for four different composites where different rates of Fe2O3 were used. The effect of Fe2O3 on the all parameters was also obtained. It was found that the Fe2O3 rate is important on the radiation shielding properties of selected composite materials.EnglishGamma-ray attenuation; Hydroxyapatite composite; Fe2O3; Buildup factorsATTENUATION COEFFICIENTS; RADIATION; CONCRETE; NEUTRON; TRANSMISSION; ABSORPTION; GLASSESComputation of gamma-ray shielding properties of (100-x)HAP plus xFe2O3 compositesArticle
