Deniz; Tekin, Emine Deniz; Stanford University; Turk Hava Kurumu University; Turkish Aeronautical Association.Supramolecular peptide nanofibers that are composed of peptide amphiphile molecules have been widely used for many purposes from biomedical applications to energy conversion. The self-assembly mechanisms of these peptide nanofibers also provide convenient models for understanding the self-assembly mechanisms of various biological supramolecular systems; however, the current theoretical models that explain these mechanisms do not sufficiently explain the experimental results. In this study, we present a new way of modeling these nanofibers that better fits with the experimental data. Molecular dynamics simulations were applied to create model fibers using two different layer models and two different tilt angles. Strikingly, the fibers which were modeled to be tilting the peptide amphiphile molecules and/or tilting the plane were found to be more stable and consistent with the experiments.Publication A comparison of some control strategies for a non-integer order tuberculosis model(International Journal of Optimization and Control: Theories and Applications, 2019-04-15) Tuğba Akman YıldızThe aim of this paper is to investigate some optimal control strategies for a generalized tuberculosis model consisting of four compartments. We construct the model with the use of Caputo time fractional derivative. Contribution of distancing control, latent case finding control, case holding control and their combinations are discussed and the optimality system is obtained based on the Hamiltonian principle. Additionally, the non-negativity and boundedness of the solution are shown. We present some illustrative examples to determine the most effective strategy to minimize the number of infected people and maximize the number of susceptible individuals. Moreover, we discuss the contribution of the Caputo derivative and the order of the fractional derivative to efficiency of the control strategies.Publication A Complexity-Reduced ML Parametric Signal Reconstruction Method(Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2011-02-20) Z. Although many automatic calibration methods were developed, the time consumed for running the hydrologic model is still a problem for hydrologic modelers. To reduce the computational complexity and increase performance of the calibration procedure, a software package (Fast Automated Calibration Tool, FACT) that works on Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) was developed. Sequential Uncertainty Fitting Algorithm (SUFI‐2) was chosen to build the software package on, because SUFI‐2 combines optimization with uncertainty analysis and can handle a large number of parameters. SUFI‐2 implemented in SWAT‐CUP (a software program that was developed for SWAT) is very useful in an interactive manner, however; it has some drawbacks which are the time consumed, user interaction requirement and update problems of SWAT model files. In this study, the calibration procedure was implemented in a MATLAB script, which completes the full calibration in one single run. The developed tool was applied on Sarısu‐Eylikler Basin SWAT model that had r2 = 0.41, NSE = 0.11 between 1992 and 2010 without calibration. When the model was calibrated using SUFI‐2 in SWAT‐CUP, the model was improved to r2 = 0.57, NSE = 0.44, P‐factor = 0.69 and R‐factor = 1.00 at the end of 42 iterations using 100 simulation counts in each iteration. However; when the developed calibration tool was applied with 250 simulation counts without any user interaction for each iteration, the model was improved to r2 = 0.59, NSE = 0.57, P‐factor = 0.72, and R‐factor = 1.32 at the end of three iterations. Thus, the developed calibration procedure took a shorter time (unlike SUFI2 in SWAT‐CUP, FACT takes several hours) compared to SWAT‐CUP with minimum user involvement.Publication A fix-and-optimize heuristic for the integrated fleet sizing and replenishment planning problem with predetermined delivery frequencies(Elsevier BV, 2019-01) Niousha Karimi Dastjerd; Kadir ErtogralPublication A fractional dynamical model for honeybee colony population(World Scientific Pub Co Pte Ltd, 2018-07) Tuğba Akman YıldızBees are the main contributors of pollination and it is predicted that disruption of pollination causes some serious problems in economics, agriculture and ecology. It has been reported that honeybee colony collapse has increased dramatically for some time in different parts of the world. In order to investigate the causes of colony collapse, we establish a fractional multi-order honeybee colony population model. Two different models with Caputo and Caputo–Fabrizio differentiation operators have been compared. We justify the existence and uniqueness of the solution. Stability analysis has been presented. We find the numerical values of the fractional order [Formula: see text] so that the numerical results are close to the experimental findings more than the integer-order case.Publication A fuzzy logic-based stabilization system for a flying robot, with an embedded energy harvester and a visual decision-making system(Elsevier BV, 2023-09) Abdullatif Baba; Basil Alothman; Baba, AbdullatifPublication A GENERIC STRATEGIC SUPPLIER SELECTION MODEL IN INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES(Business and Management Studies: An International Journal, 2019-09-23) Ali Emre KARAÖZ; Kemal TEKİN; Göknur Arzu AKYÜZ; Akyüz, Göknur ArzuTedarikçi derecelendirme ve seçim konusu, tedarik zinciri yönetiminde stratejik önem kazanmıştır ve tedarikçi seçim süreci, literatürde çok kriterli karar verme konusu olarak görülmektedir. With various characteristics such as offering flexibility, cost reductions, platform independence and on-demand service, cloud approach opens up tremendous opportunities from Supply Chain (SC) perspective. However, extant literature reveals that adoption and assimilation of the technology is not mature in SC domain and cloud-based modelling initiatives are only recent. To fill this gap, this study discusses the opportunities of cloud computing from SC perspective and proposes a generic representation based on cloud philosophy. The proposed representation is conceptual, flexible and customizable, utilizing and highlighting the cloud benefits in a multi-partner setting. Therefore, this article is an answer to the research questions: “what are the opportunities of cloud philosophy for SC domain?” and “how can supply chains be represented generically based on cloud technology in multi-actor environment?”. Contribution of this study lies in comprehensive treatment of cloud computing and supply chain intersection as well as the generic representation.
Publication A Generic, Multi-Period and Multi-Partner Cost Optimizing Model for Cloud-Based Supply Chain(IGI Global, 2016-04-01) Goknur Arzu Akyuz; Mohammad RehanCloud technology in a multi-enterprise, collaborative context is one of the most promising topics at IT-Supply Chain (SC) intersection. Cloud comes with well-proven advantages and cost savings; enabling collaboration and business intelligence. Cloud transition is still on-going with individual enterprise-level transitions. However, collaborative paradigm dictates that entire network well-being is to be considered over enterprise-level concerns. Thus, handling the transition of a single enterprise is not sufficient for strategic network leverage. Planning and managing across multiple enterprises is required, taking into consideration various cost items and budget constraints. In this study, a multi-period multi-partner cost-optimizing model is developed for network-level management of cloud transition for a SC. The model produces an optimal transition plan, indicating timing of the transition for each partner to obtain the maximum cost savings across network over a specified planning horizon. The model proposed is generic, flexible and customizable for different sectors/settings.

The designed op-amp consists of two stages. While the telescopic first stage provides high speed and low swing, the second stage provides high gain and large swing. Common-mode feedback circuits (CMFB), which contain five transistors OTA and sensing resistors, are used to set the first-stage output to a known value. The designed two-stage telescopic operational amplifier has 41.04 dB lower frequency gain, 1.81 GHz gain-bandwidth product (GBW) and 51.9 degrees phase margin under 5 pF load capacitance. The design consumes a total current of 11.9 mA from a 1.2-V supply voltage. Presented fully differential two-stage telescopic op-amp by using low-voltage design techniques is suitable for active filter in vehicle-to-everything (V2X) applications with 120 mu m x 55 mu m layout area.Publication A Hybrid Hesitant Fuzzy Decision-Making Approach for Evaluating Solar Power Plant Location Sites(Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2018-10-20) Ahmet Aktas; Mehmet KabakPublication A Hybrid Hesitant Fuzzy Model for Healthcare Systems Ranking of European Countries(MDPI AG, 2022-11-16) Ahmet Aktas; Billur Ecer; Mehmet KabakRanking several countries on a specific area may require the consideration of various factors simultaneously. To obtain a ranking of countries, the development of analytical approaches, which can aggregate opinions of a group of people on various criteria, is essential. The main aim of this study was to propose such a ranking approach for European countries in terms of healthcare services. To this end, a hybrid group decision-making model based on Hesitant Fuzzy Linguistic Terms Set (HFLTS) and Hesitant Fuzzy Technique of Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (HF-TOPSIS) is presented in this study. Importance degree of indicators were determined by the HFLTS-based group decision-making approach, and then HF-TOPSIS was used to obtain the rank of countries. According to the results obtained by the proposed model, Austria, Sweden and Finland are the best European countries in terms of healthcare services. Moreover, two comparative analyses, one for the utilization of different hesitant fuzzy distance measures in HF-TOPSIS and one for the ranking of countries obtained by utilizing TOPSIS, return some variations in country rankings. While Austria remained the best country for all distance measures in the hesitant fuzzy environment, Luxemburg was found to be the best for the deterministic case of TOPSIS.
